Invasive species - insects and islands

Homepage

Hello! May I introduce you to Barbacera, a fruit fly we created especially for this module, you'll be meeting it again all along the way. When Barbarcera winks, it will be to tell a joke or to point out that there's some humor involved. This chapter (Invasive species: insects and islands) is the first of three in the IBAR course  “INVASIVE SPECIES - BIOLOGICAL CONTROL - AGRICULTURAL MANAGEMENT”, and is based on recent scientific papers on biological invasions in a changing context, from the globalization of transport to degraded habitats. In this chapter, you will acquire basic knowledge and a critical look at different ideas, beyond Chapter 2, which presents cases of biological control of invasive insects on islands.
